TYPES OF SOLAR EXTERIOR LIGHTING FIXTURES:
There are many types of outdoor solar lighting fixtures on the market in many different styles. because they do not require wiring, this allows for a wide range of locations to put them.
Solar Porch Lights
you can change the appearance for your porch by installing solar porch light fixtures. There are traditional and contemporary designs available and you can put them exactly where you want on the porch.
Solar Wall Lights
Solar wall lights can be installed on the side of your house or garage to help light your way. You can simply hang them where you need them.
Solar Lamp Post lights
These fixtures look great as they cast light over a wider area because they are higher off the ground. These can be useful at the bottom of deck steps, for example.
Solar Path Lighting
Although these lights are often cheap, made of plastic and sold in packs of six, they actually do the job very well and illuminate the path to your house or through the yard. They typically have stakes which means you can use them anywhere you need them by driving them into soft ground. In most instances, they only put out a small light to act as a guide rather than providing bright illumination. Use is limited, but, if you don’t need anything more than a gentle light, they’re an excellent option. There are even solar bollard lights available which also do a good job of marking out a path.
Solar Novelty Lights
You might have a taste for novelty exterior solar lighting. These lights are available in different configurations –disguised as a rock, bugs, or as a cartoon figure, and are ideal for placing in the middle of a garden. These are for amusement purposes rather than practicality and do not give a give off a great deal of lighting power.
Solar Security Lights
Solar exterior lighting fixtures can be good for security lights, especially if they’re fitted with motion sensors – they only come on when they detect movement (which will conserve their battery power). Solar floodlights can also light up large areas of around 100 square yards, but, because they require a lot of power, they need their own solar panels to charge properly.
Recessed Solar Deck Lighting
Solar lights can look great on a deck, especially if they are recessed and made to be used around a swimming pool Again, these won’t give out great deal of light, but, there should be enough to see where you’re going without the lights being too obtrusive. There are even floating solar lights that can be used to create interesting effects in pools and ponds when they come on at night.
Most exterior solar light fixtures will last over ten hours on a full charge and the LED bulbs will last for years. You can achieve beautiful soft accents such as recessed lighting, a night-time look to your garden, or to give a beautiful incandescent effect on your garden path. You can also highlight in your garden using a cluster of solar light sticks for a beautiful effect or install solar patio lights to make your outdoor gathering space warm and inviting with both amber and white light settings (amber lights will create a more intimate atmosphere while white will provide more light where it is needed).
These are but a few of the outdoor lighting applications using solar exterior lights and there are so many others that I have written about on this site, so enjoy, learn, and make the move over to creative green lighting. You are only limited by your imagination.
